Lung cancer is one of the leading cancers in Cambodia, but chances can be decreased by quitting smoking, a doctor said Thursday.

Second-hand smoke, too, is a risk faced by many, killing 3,000 Cambodians annually, Dr. Taing Tek Hong said, as a guest on "Hello VOA."

Smoking causes about 87 percent of lung cancer cases for Cambodians, he said.

Quitting smoking greatly reduces the risk, but regular health checkups are also important, he said.
