중국 남부 관둥저우 지역에서 새로운 조류독감 사례가 발견됐다고 관영 신화통신이 보도했습니다.

신화통신은 16일 관계관들의 말을 인용해 광저우의 한 시장에서 13일 발견된 조류독감 바이러스는 H5N1 바이러스인 것으로 판명됐다고 보도했습니다.

이들 관계관은 H5N1 바이러스로 적어도 백마리의 가금류가 죽었으며 5백 여 마리를 추가로 살처분하도록 만들었다고 말했습니다.

한편 이웃 홍콩의 당국자들은 조류독감 바이러스가 발생한 지역으로부터 가금류와 가금류 생산 제품의 수입을 21일 동안 중단했다고 말했습니다.

세계보건기구, WHO는 올해 들어 중국에서 조류독감으로 3명이 사망했으며 2003년 이후 지금까지 전 세계에서 2백 32명이 목숨을 잃었다고 말하고 있습니다.

Chinese state media say authorities have discovered a new bird flu outbreak in the southern province of Guangdong.

Agriculture ministry officials quoted by the Xinhua news agency today (Sunday) say the H5N1 virus was identified Thursday at a poultry market in Guangzhou.

The officials said the virus killed at least 100 birds and triggered the slaughter of 500 more.

Xinhua said the outbreak has been controlled.

Authorities in neighboring Hong Kong say they have suspended imports of live birds and poultry products from the affected zone for 21 days.

The World Health Organization says bird flu has killed three people in China this year, and another 232 people around the world since 2003.

Humans normally get the virus from sick or dead chickens.
