Gunmen Kill Iraqi Television Anchorwoman

Gunmen in Baghdad have shot dead an Iraqi television anchorwoman.

Al-Sharqiyah television anchorwoman Leqaa Abdul Razzaq was killed on her way home from work Wednesday evening.

Ms. Razzaq had earlier worked for the U.S.-funded Iraqiya television station. Under Saddam Hussein's regime, she worked for a state television program called Shabab (Youth).

The mother of two young children was widowed just two months ago, when unknown gunmen killed her husband.

Earlier this month, militants in Baghdad killed a female Iraqi journalist who worked for a Kurdish-run television station.

Iraq has become the world's most dangerous place for journalists, with dozens killed since the start of the conflict.
