James Becomes Youngest NBA Player With 2,000 Career Points

National Basketball Association star LeBron James has become the youngest player ever to amass 2,000 career points, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 96-74 win over the visiting Chicago Bulls.

James, who netted 26 points Saturday, will not celebrate his 20th birthday for another month. He is 277 days younger than Kobe Bryant was when he set the mark with the Los Angeles Lakers nearly six years ago.

Cleveland's victory was the Cavs' ninth in their last 10 games.

The Dallas Mavericks used 32 points and 18 rebounds by Dirk Nowitzki to down the Grizzlies 98-85 in Memphis.

New York's Jamal Crawford netted 30 points in the Knicks' 108-102 win over the visiting Toronto Raptors.

Orlando's Grant Hill scored 29 points, and Steve Francis added 26 to lead the host Magic to a 105-99 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Other NBA games Saturday saw the Charlotte Bobcats get by the visiting Atlanta Hawks 107-92; the Denver Nuggets down the Rockets 82-76 in Houston; the San Antonio Spurs crush the visiting Utah Jazz 109-76, and the Milwaukee Bucks defeat the Detroit Pistons 96-90 in Milwaukee.
