Largest Brazilian Political Party to Leave Government

Brazil's largest political party has voted to leave the governing coalition of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The Brazilian Democratic Movement Party Sunday called on its two Cabinet ministers to quit the government - although Communications Minister Eunicio Oliveira and Welfare Minister Amir Lando have said they will remain.

The party says it will support its own candidate for Brazil's 2006 presidential election.

The vote comes one day after Brazil's Popular Socialist Party also decided to leave the government.
