The Philippines has won its first-ever match in the Tiger Cup football tournament, getting two late goals from striker Emilio Caligdong to edge East Timor 2-1 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
East Timor, which is making its debut at the tournament, appeared to be on the way to victory after Januario Do Rego blasted in a free kick in the 60th minute to give his team the 1-0 lead.
East Timor dominated play for most of the game, before 70th minute substitute Caligdong scored the equalizer in the 89th minute. He then slipped through the defense again to tally the winner before East Timor's players could recover.
