An explosion at a Russian coal mine has killed at least 16 people and injured four others.
Officials say the blast occurred Wednesday at the Yesaulskaya mine in the Kemerovo region of Siberia. The facility is about 3,000 kilometers east of Moscow.
A local government spokesman said the blast was caused by a methane explosion. Rescuers say they are still searching for up to 10 miners unaccounted for since the early morning explosion.
