Mexican Governor Killed in Plane Crash

The governor of the western Mexican state of Colima and five other people have been killed in a plane crash.

Officials say the plane carrying Governor Gustavo Vazquez crashed Thursday in the neighboring state of Michoacan, about 200 kilometers west of Mexico City.

The accident is under investigation.

Mr. Vazquez belonged to the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which ruled Mexico for 71 years until it was defeated by President Vicente Fox's National Action Party in the 2000 elections.
