NBA: Mavericks Beat Kings Following Webber Trade

The National Basketball Association's Sacramento Kings have lost to the Dallas Mavericks in their first game since trading star forward Chris Webber to Philadelphia.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 34 points in leading the Mavericks to a 122-113 victory over the Kings on Thursday. A flurry of last-minute trades before the NBA deadline left each team with only eight players dressed and ready for the contest.

In New York, Tim Thomas dropped in 27 points as the Knicks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 113-101. Allen Iverson chipped in 29 points for the Sixers who did not have the newly-acquired Webber in the line-up.

Elton Brand scored 24 points in Los Angeles as the Clippers outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 92-86. Latrell Sprewell had 17 in the losing effort.
