Women's Golf: Wie in Three-Way Tie for Lead at LPGA Season Opener

update

American teen golf sensation Michelle Wie is five shots off the lead heading into the third and final round of the Ladies Professional Golf Association season-opening SBS Open in Kahuku, Hawaii.

Wie is playing as an amateur in the event on her home island of Oahu. The 15-year-old phenom is in a three-way tie for fifth place at 4-under-par, 140 after carding a second straight 2-under-70 in Friday's second round.

Wie is looking to become the youngest player to win an LPGA event. She trails Jennifer Rosales of the Philippines, who has led throughout the tournament.

Rosales played through high winds and rain showers Friday to fire a 3-under, 69 in a round that included four bogeys and seven birdies. She finished with four birdies on the final five holes to post a 9-under-par, 135 after 36 holes. Rosales has a two-stroke lead over American Reilley Rankin.

American Cristie Kerr is in third place at 139 after a round of 68. Countrywoman Rosie Jones is another shot back in fourth place.
