Second Wave of Job Cuts Announced at BBC

The British Broadcasting Corporation is reported planning to cut another 1,500 jobs in addition to the 1,700 job cuts announced last week.

The BBC web site says a formal announcement will be made Monday. The report says most of the cuts will come from the broadcaster's programing departments including news, drama, entertainment and children's programs.

Union officials have pledged to fight the BBC's board of governors vigorously if they institute these reductions.

Sources say the corporation's governors approved the cuts at a meeting Thursday.
