4 Former Bosnian Serb Officials Arrested for Criminal Activities

Police in Bosnia-Herzegovina have arrested four former Bosnian Serb officials for criminal and mismanagement activities.

Officials arrested two former interior ministers, Zoran Djeric and Perica Bundalo, and a former minister for agriculture, Rodoljob Trkulja Friday. The fourth suspect, Stojko Blagoyevic, is a former manager of the forestry company Srpske Sume.

Authorities say all their alleged crimes were connected with Srpske Sume.

The Associate Press says that last year international mediator Paddy Ashdown authorized a special audit of the forestry company, following suspicions that it was financing the protection of Bosnia's war crimes suspects, Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.

Meanwhile, the International Criminal Tribunal has released Miroslav Kvocka, the former commander of the Serb detention camp Omarska, from detention after four years of his seven-year sentence. Kvocka was found guilty in 2001 of crimes against humanity during the Bosnian conflict.
