Clash on Bangladesh-India Border Kills 4

Reports from Bangladesh say a clash between Bangladeshi and Indian border guards has left four people dead.

Security officials say there were casualties on both sides of the border from the overnight gunbattle in Bangladesh's eastern Akhaura area.

The clash took place as top officials from both countries wrapped up a five-day meeting in Dhaka on ending disputes over India's fencing of the border.

In a separate incident in western Bangladesh, border guards detained a French documentary filmmaker and an Indian assistant after they strayed into the country from India without valid travel documents.

Local police say the filmmaker, Arnaud Mandagaran, and the Indian national were arrested in the western Satkhira district. They say the Frenchman was sent to Dhaka for questioning.
