Pakistan has accused a recently-captured al-Qaida suspect of involvement in a plot to kill Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz last year.
Libyan national Abu Farraj al-Libbi was arrested this month inside Pakistan for his alleged role in two failed assassination attempts on President Pervez Musharraf in 2003.
Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao said Wednesday the accused also sent a suicide bomber to assassinate the prime minister in July of 2004.
The bomber blew himself up near Mr. Aziz's car as it passed through the town of Fateh Jang, north of Islamabad. Mr. Aziz was unhurt, but the blast killed nine people, including the prime minister's driver.
A number of Pakistani militants have been arrested since the assassination attempts.
