Pacers, Mavericks Level NBA Playoffs

In National Basketball Association playoff action Wednesday, Jermaine O'Neal scored 22 points and Reggie Miller added 19 as the Indiana Pacers beat the host Detroit Pistons 92-83 to even their Eastern Conference semifinal series at 1-1.

Jeff Foster grabbed a career high 20 rebounds in the win. Indiana hosts game three of the best of seven series on Friday night.

In Phoenix, Dirk Nowitzki hit the game winning basket with less than seven seconds left to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 108-106 win over the host Suns. The best of seven Western Conference series is now tied at 1-1.

Michael Finley led Dallas with 31 points while Nowitzki finished with 23. Center Erick Dampier, who had been criticized by Nowitzki for his performance in game one, had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Game three is Friday in Dallas.

The post-season continues Thursday when the Miami Heat visit the Washington Wizards and the San Antonio Spurs take on the Seattle SuperSonics. Miami and San Antonio lead their playoff series 2-0.
