Perry Leads Colonial by Three Strokes


American golfer Kenny Perry had a 7-under-par 63 to take a three-stroke lead over countrymen D.J. Trahan and Ted Purdy after the second round of the Bank of America Colonial golf tournament in Forth Worth, Texas.

Perry is 12-under-par 128 for the tournament while Trahan and Purdy are tied for second at 9-under-par, 131. American Kirk Triplett is in fourth place at 8-under-par 132 after shooting a 4-under-par 66 in the second round.

Australian Rod Pampling is tied for fifth with Americans Steve Stricker and Billy Mayfair at 7-under-par 133. Former Masters champion Phil Mickelson is in a tie for 52nd place, 12 strokes off the lead at even-par 140.

The tournament is being played on the Colonial Country Club course, a par-72 layout that measures 6,450 meters. The top prize is $1,008,000.
