OECD Issues Scathing Report on Russian Economy

A major international economic organization is set to issue a report warning against growing government intervention in Russia's struggling market economy.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development will deliver its report called "Russia: Building Rules for the Market," Monday at a news conference in Moscow. A number of high-level Russian government officials are expected to attend.

The OECD says far-reaching reforms are needed if Russia is to maintain its long-term economic growth.

The critical report comes as the Kremlin prepares to acquire a majority stake in Russia's natural gas monopoly, Gazprom.

The France-based OECD is a forum comprised of 30 member nations committed to democratic government and market economics.
