Baseball: Tejada Leads American League to All-Star Win

The American League rolled to a 7-5 victory in Major League Baseball's 76th All-Star Game late Tuesday at Detroit's Comerica Park.

A late-inning rally by the National League fell short when New York Yankees' relief ace Mariano Rivera struck out Houston's Morgan Ensberg to end the game.

Baltimore shortstop Miguel Tejada was named the game's most valuable player. Tejada started the American League offense with a home run in the second inning and drove in another run in the third.

Texas Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira and Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki also drove in two runs each for the American League. Andruw Jones of the Atlanta Braves homered for the National League in a losing effort.

The league that wins the All-Star Game gets home-field advantage in the World Series. The American League has now won the last eight All-Star games that were played to a decision.
