Cricket: England Leads Australia in Ashes Test Match


England's cricket team leads Australia by 124 runs after holding the visitors to 308 all out in their first innings in the second Ashes test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham, England.

After scoring 407 runs in its first innings, England managed to keep the Australians in check thanks in part to Ashley Giles and Andrew Flintoff taking three wickets each. Justin Langer was the top scorer for Australia with 82 runs before being out leg before wicket.

Flintoff took three wickets while allowing 52 runs in 15 overs. Giles was three for 78 in 26 overs. Simon Jones took two wickets and Matthew Hoggard took one for England. England then scored 25 for one before play ended for the day.

Australia leads the five-match series 1-0. The Aussies have captured every Ashes test series since 1989.
