Romania Flooding Kills Nine, Displaces More Than 1,000

Romania's Interior Ministry says flooding in the north of the country has killed at least nine people and displaced 1,000 more.

The ministry said Friday a nine-year-old girl drowned in a swollen river. It said more than 300 villages remain without electricity following heavy rain this week.

Flooding earlier this year in Romania killed more than two dozen people and caused severe material damage.
