Iraqi Officials: 11 Dead in Suicide Attack in Hit

Iraqi officials say 11 people were killed and another 16 were wounded by a suicide car bomber targeting a coalition base in the western town of Hit.

Eight of those killed in Monday's attack were civilians.

In Baghdad, insurgents attacked a security post near the heavily-guarded Interior Ministry, killing at least two policemen and injuring five others.

Also in Baghdad, officials say four U.S. soldiers and three civilians were wounded in another suicide car bomb attack.

Meanwhile, Britain's Defense Ministry says two British soldiers were killed Monday by a roadside bomb near Basra in southern Iraq.

And the U.S. military says it killed seven gunmen who fired on U.S. and Iraqi troops from inside a mosque in the northern town of Tall Afar on Sunday.
