Police Discover 200 Bombs, Other Explosives in Bangladeshi Capital

Bangladesh police say they have seized about 200 small bombs and dozens of other explosives in a raid in the capital, Dhaka.

Police officials say at least two people were arrested during the raid Thursday in the eastern South Goran district of Dhaka.

One of the homes raided belongs to the brother of Shayek Adbur Rahman, leader and commander of the banned Islamic group Jamaat-ul-Mujahedin, but police say the brother escaped.

Leaflets found at the homes bear the name of the banned Islamic group, and call for the introduction of Islamic law in Bangladesh.

Police are also investigating whether those arrested had anything to do with the bombings on August 17, in which more than 400 small homemade bombs exploded across Bangladesh, killing at least two people and injuring over 100.
