Rice Goes to Haiti Tuesday

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice travels to Haiti Tuesday to support efforts aimed at making November elections there free and fair.

The State Department says Ms. Rice will meet with leaders of Haiti's interim government and U.N. peacekeepers during her one day visit.

The interim government has struggled to contain violence since former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was ousted early last year.

The United Nations, which has 7,000 peacekeepers in Haiti, as well as the 15-member Caribbean community have also offered their help to ensure the elections are fair.
