Mexican President Fills Three Cabinet Posts

Mexican President Vicente Fox has named new secretaries of agriculture, energy, and the economy.

The president Wednesday appointed Francisco Mayorga as agriculture secretary to replace Javier Usabiaga, who left the post to run for governor of Guanajuato state.

Economy Secretary Fernando Canales was named to head the energy department. He replaces Fernando Elizondo, who resigned to run for a Senate seat.

Sergio Garcia de Alba was named to fill Mr. Canales' post at the Economy ministry.

Tuesday, intelligence chief Eduardo Medina Mora was named public security minister. The previous minister, Ramon Martin Huerta, died last week in a helicopter crash.

A spokesman for the Mexican president denied the moves were part of a Cabinet shake-up.
