The Major League Baseball playoffs begiTuesday with two American League and one
National League best-of-five game series.
The defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox are the American League's wild card team this year. They open their post season on the road in Chicago where they will take on the Central Division champion White Sox. The White Sox are looking for their first post season win in 88 years.
Meanwhile, the AL East Division champion New York Yankees travel to Los Angeles to face the West champion Angels. The Yankees have the most World Series championships in baseball history, but the Angels beat the Bronx Bombers in six of their 10 meetings during the regular season.
In National League action, the Central Division winning St. Louis Cardinals host the West champion San Diego Padres in their series opener. The Cardinals finished the regular season with the best record in baseball, 100 wins against 62 losses.
On Wednesday, the NL wild card Houston Astros will be in Atlanta to battle the East Division champion Braves in game one of their series. The Braves downed the Astros in five of their six regular season contests, but face an imposing pitching line up from Houston, including seven-time Cy Young award winner, Roger Clemens.
