The widow of former president Milton Obote has apologized to all Ugandans who feel they have been wronged by her husband. Miria Obote said she was apologizing in the spirit of reconciliation, and she appealed to the mourners to forgive him. Mrs. Obote spoke at a funeral service for the twice-deposed two-time president at his residence in the northern Ugandan village of Apac.
Dr. Obote’s death has drawn mixed reactions in the country. The secretary general of the Uganda Journalists Association, Haruna Kanaabi, told reporter Shaka Ssali the burial was confined to members of the former president's family.
