Bomb Blast Kills 2 Bangladesh Judges

Bangladesh police say two judges have been killed in a bombing attack south of the capital, Dhaka.

Police say the judges were traveling in a car Monday when an assailant threw a bomb at their vehicle in Jhalakathi district. One judge was killed on the spot and the other died on the way to a local hospital.

Police arrested a young man who they say was wounded during the attack. No other details were immediately available.

Authorities have been on high alert since a series of small bombs exploded at courts and other government buildings in August and again, last month.

They blame the attacks on the banned Islamic group, Jamaat-ul-Mujahedin, which wants strict Islamic laws for Muslim-majority Bangladesh.
