In South Africa, communication experts are worried about the declining standards in journalism in the southern African region.
Kieran Mare, the training manager of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), reiterated the concern at the beginning of a training workshop for journalists in Southern Africa. He also said journalists must be factual if the declining standards are to improve.
The workshop attracted journalists from Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
From Johannesburg, Kieran Mare discussed the workshop with English to Africa reporter Peter Clottey.
