Explosion in Pakistan's Tribal Region Kills 12

Pakistani authorities say at least 12 people have been killed in a powerful explosion in a tribal town near the Afghanistan border.

Local officials say dozens of people were wounded in the blast that occurred Thursday in a market in the town of Jandola in the country's troubled South Waziristan region.

The blast damaged several shops, restaurants and other buildings.

Officials said they were trying to determine the cause of the explosion, which occurred in a weapons shop.

Earlier, in South Waziristan, four Pakistani paramilitary troops went missing and were feared to have been kidnapped. Intelligence officials said two of the missing were seen being forced into a vehicle near the region's main town of Wana.
