Bolivian President-Elect to Cut Top Officials' Pay

Bolivian President-Elect Evo Morales says he will cut his salary in half when he takes office in January.

Mr. Morales says he is cutting the president's monthly pay to just over 1,800. He says his entire cabinet and members of Bolivia's parliament will also see a 50 percent cut in pay.

The incoming president says the money that is saved will be used for education and social programs. He says the salary cuts are part of a "democratic revolution" that requires everyone to share in Bolivia's economic situation.
