China's health ministry has reported the country's third human death from bird flu.
The official Xinhua news agency says that the victim was a 41-year-old factory worker in the southeastern city of Sanming in Fujian province. She became sick in early December and died last week. Authorities are unsure how she contracted the disease as no animal cases have been reported in the area.
The case is China's seventh human bird flu infection.
Meanwhile, Romania says tests in Britain have confirmed the presence of the deadly H5N1 bird flu strain in at least six villages east of Bucharest.
But in Ukraine, President Viktor Yuschenko has lifted a state of emergency in Crimea because the bird flu outbreak there has been eliminated.
