NBA: Bryant Scores 51 Points but Lakers Lose to Kings in OT

In National Basketball Association (NBA) action Thursday, Kobe Bryant scored 51 points but his Los Angeles Lakers fell in overtime to the Sacramento Kings 118-109. Mike Bibby scored 40 points to lead the Kings and Kenny Thomas had 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for his first career "triple-double."

In the NBA's other game Thursday, the Detroit Pistons' Richard Hamilton scored 26 points, and Rasheed Wallace had 23 as the Pistons routed the undermanned New York Knicks 105-79. The Knicks were without starter Antonio Davis who was suspended for going into the stands Wednesday night. Davis insisted he was going after a man he said was threatening his wife. The Knicks have now lost four straight.
