Spanish officials say French police arrested two suspected members of the Basque separatist group, ETA, Wednesday.
The two were arrested in the western French town of Saintes. Spain accuses the suspects of being part of ETA's logistical operation and may have helped ETA fugitives find refuge in Europe.
ETA has been fighting for a separate Basque homeland in northern Spain and southern France since 1968, killing more than 800 people.
Spain regards it as a terrorist group.
