The Atlanta Hawks' Joe Johnson scored 29 points, including the game-winning shot, in a 99-98 upset win over the Detroit Pistons Tuesday in the National Basketball Association.
Johnson's layup with just over seven seconds left Atlanta ahead for good and handed Detroit its first two-game losing streak of the season.
In other games, the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Knicks in New York, 85-82. Elton Brand led the Clippers with 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. New York's Jalen Rose had 23 points.
In Texas. the Dallas Mavericks managed to contain Kobe Bryant as they downed the Los Angeles Lakers, 102-87. Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 points for the Mavericks, and Josh Howard added 22 points. The Mavs' defense held Bryant to 24 points, while the Lakers' Brian Cook scored 28.
