California Governor Declares Emergency After Severe Weather

California's governor has declared a state of emergency following heavy rains in parts of the state, and weather forecasters are warning of more wet weather.

A series of recent storms across northern and central California has caused flooding, washed out roads, and forced residents to evacuate.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency Monday for seven counties. The order directs state agencies to make their staff, equipment and facilities available to the stricken areas.

The National Weather Service says more heavy rains are expected Tuesday. It has posted a flood watch for some parts of the state.
