Raj Kumar, one of south India's most famous actors, has died. Media reports put him in his mid-seventies.
The acclaimed actor died Wednesday in the southern city of Bangalore. His personal physician says he died of a heart attack.
Kumar appeared in more than 200 Kannada-language films over five decades. He was known for never smoking cigarettes or playing a drunkard on screen.
In 2000, Kumar was kidnapped by one of India's most famous criminals, Veerappan. He was freed after being held for more than 100 days.
