Thousands of mourners in India are paying their last respects to a top Hindu nationalist party leader who died after being shot by his brother.
The funeral procession of politician Pramod Mahajan wound its way through the streets of Bombay Thursday as grieving family members, senior political leaders, and corporate and entertainment figures looked on.
Mahajan was key figure in the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party. He died Wednesday, 12 days after his brother shot him three times at close range.
The politician's brother, Pravin Mahajan, surrendered to police hours after the shooting. Police allege he shot his brother because he resented his success and felt ignored and humiliated by him. His lawyer says his client is deranged.
