Football: Middlesbrough, FC Sevilla Face Off in UEFA Cup Final

There will be a new name on European Football's UEFA Cup trophy after Wednesday's final between Middlesbrough of England and FC Sevilla of Spain in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Both teams are playing in their first European tournament final, with Sevilla hoping to win its first major trophy since 1948 and Middlesbrough in a championship match for the first time since joining European competition two seasons ago.

Middlesbrough has scored wins over FC Basel of Switzerland and Steaua Bucharest of Romania on its way to today's final. Sevilla defeated Germany's FC Schalke 04, Zenit St. Petersburg of Russia and Lille Métropole of France on its way to the final.

Wednesday's match is the first of two this month between English and Spanish teams - Arsenal faces Barcelona next Wednesday for the Champions League title. The last time Spanish and English sides met in a UEFA Cup final, Liverpool defeated Deportivo Alavés, 5-4, in 2001.
