The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers each scored impressive victories Wednesday, in their second round National Basketball Association playoff games.
Miami stormed to a 41-19 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back as they trounced the New Jersey Nets 111-89. Dwayne Wade torched the Nets for 31 points, including 17 in the first quarter, while teammate Shaquille O'Neal added 21 points as the Heat rebounded from an embarrassing Game One loss. The best of seven Eastern Conference series is now tied at one game apiece.
The Los Angeles Clippers put on a similar dominating performance in beating the Phoenix Suns 122-97. The Clippers dominated both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game, outrebounding the Suns by a 57-26 margin and taking a 31-6 advantage in second-chance points.
Elton Brand scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while teammates Sam Cassell and Cuttino Mobley scored 23 points each.
