The Sharks were leading 2-1 late in the third period when Edmonton's Raffi Torres scored to tie the game and send it into overtime.
San Jose continues to lead the best-of-seven Western Conference second round series 2-1.
Another overtime victory came in the Eastern Conference Wednesday, as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2. J.P. Dumont scored the game-winning goal with just over five minutes left in the overtime period. The Sabres were leading late in the third period when Ottawa's Jason Spezza scored the tying goal to force the overtime period.
Buffalo leads the best-of-seven series 3-0.
Also in the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes downed the New Jersey Devils 3-2, as Rod Brind'Amor scored the game-winning goal on the power play late in the second period.
Rookie goalie Cam Ward made 28 saves to help Carolina take a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
