Pop star Michael Jackson arrived in Japan for his first public appearance since his acquittal last June on child molestation charges.
Jackson is in the capital, Tokyo, Saturday to receive a "Legend Award" at Japan's MTV Video Music Awards.
A spokeswoman for Jackson says that he will tour an orphanage and visit with Japanese business leaders during his trip to Japan.
Jackson had moved to the Middle Eastern country of Bahrain shortly after a jury cleared him of charges that he had sexually abused a young boy at his Neverland Ranch in California.
He has remained largely in seclusion since the trial.
