Libya Says Chad, Sudan Agree to Restore Relations

Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi says Chad and Sudan have agreed to restore diplomatic relations that were broken off in April.

Mr. Gaddafi spoke Tuesday after meeting with Chadian President Idriss Deby and his Sudanese counterpart, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, in N'Djamena. The talks took place at a ceremony marking the start of Mr. Deby's third term.

In April, Mr. Deby cut diplomatic relations with Khartoum after an unsuccessful rebel attack on N'Djamena. Sudan has accused Chad of supporting rebels fighting Sudanese government forces in Darfur.

At the end of last month, the two countries renewed their pledge to stop hosting rebel groups hostile to each other. They also called for a joint military commission to monitor their shared border.
