Azerbaijan's chief prosecutor says he is investigating whether former Economic Minister Farkhad Aliyev was involved in last year's murder of opposition journalist Elmar Husseinov.
Prosecutor General Fakir Garalov said Tuesday he will look into the allegations and issue what he says will be an objective conclusion.
Garalov says investigators have already found the name of the alleged killer, Gadzhi Mammadov, in a personal telephone book in Aliyev's office.
Mammadov testified last month that Aliyev ordered him to him to kill Husseinov.
Aliyev was fired as economic development minister last year, shortly before he was arrested for allegedly taking part in a failed coup against President Ilham Aliyev, who is no relation to the former official.
