Usher Makes Broadway Debut; Paris Hilton's New Album Hits Stores

On August 22, R&B star Usher will make his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago. He'll play the role of Billy Flynn for six weeks, before wrapping up performances on October 1. Usher released a statement that said, "This is a very exciting time in my career. I have always admired Broadway actors for their showmanship, dedication and focus that goes into performing live on stage every night. Being on Broadway allows you to connect to audiences in a whole new way that's different from music and movies. When they asked me to play Billy Flynn in Chicago, I jumped at the chance to be a part of such an amazing production."

On August 22, Sony Records will re-release The Ultimate Luther Vandross. The new collector's version of the anthology features two previously unreleased tracks, "Shine" and "Got You Home." Also included are many hits from the late singer's long career, such as "Power of Love," "Here and Now," "Give Me The Reason" and the title track from his final album, Dance With My Father.

A double-disc DVD of the 2005 Hurricane Katrina benefit concert "From the Big Apple to the Big Easy" will be released on August 22. Taped at New York's Madison Square Garden, the collection includes performances by Elton John, Dave Matthews, Cyndi Lauper, Simon & Garfunkel and the Neville Brothers, among many others. All of the proceeds from sales of the DVD will go to the ongoing relief efforts.

On August 22, the debut album by hotel heiress and actress Paris Hilton will be released on Warner Brothers Records. Paris includes her current hit "Stars Are Blind," which debuted at Number 18 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart last month. This week (week ending August 26), the single drops to Number 42. The album is described as a mix of R&B, pop and hip-hop.

Filmmaker Adam Muskiewicz is making a documentary called The Truth About Elvis. He plans to release the project in August 2007, which will mark the 30th anniversary of "The King's" death. USA Today reports that Muskiewicz has spent the past two years interviewing conspiracy theorists, experts, authors and Presley's close friends. As an added twist, he's currently offering a $3 million reward to anyone who has legitimate proof that Presley is still alive.
