World record holder Asafa Powell, Americans Jeremy Wariner and Sanya Richards and Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba have all stayed in the running for $1 million at the Van Damme Golden League athletics meet in Brussels.
Powell won the 100-meters in 9.99 seconds, just .07 seconds ahead of American Marcus Brunson.
Wariner, the world and Olympic champion, won the men's 400-meters race in 44.29 seconds. An electrical failure delayed the start of the race by nearly 15 minutes, but Wariner finished 33.01 seconds ahead of Congo's Gary Kikaya anyway.
In the women's 5,000-meters race, Dibaba sprinted away from compatriot and world record holder and Olympic champion Meseret Defar. Dibaba, the world champion, finished in 14 minutes, 30.63 seconds, and Defar could not match her final kick.
In the women's 400-meters, Richards finished in 50.02 seconds, a full second ahead of Jamaica's Novlene Williams.
Richards, Dibaba, Powell and Wariner all still have a chance to win a share of the one million dollar golden jackpot. The sixth and final meet is scheduled for Berlin, Germany September third. All athletes with six wins will share the jackpot.
Qatar's Saif Saaeed Shaheen won the men's 3,000-meters steeplechase (in 8:04.32). In the men's 10,000 meters, Kenya's Micah Kogo set a world leading time of 26 minutes, 35.63 seconds to win the race.
Morocco's Hasna Benhassi won the women's 800-meters race (1:59.06). World champion Michelle Perry of the United States captured the women's 100-meters hurdles race (12.55 seconds).
