Suicide Car Bomber Kills 2 Afghan Civilians in Kandahar City

Afghan police say a suicide car bomber has killed two Afghan civilians and wounded at least five others in the southern city of Kandahar.

They say the attack was aimed at a convoy of NATO troops, but no coalition soldiers were hurt.

The suicide bombing was the second in Kandahar city in as many days. On Wednesday, a suicide bomber on foot killed five Afghans and two Americans outside the office of a private U.S. security company.

Also Thursday, Pakistani Foreign Minister Khursheed Kasuri met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul. The two were expected to discuss ways to curb Afghanistan's Taleban-led insurgency.

The leaders were also expected to discuss proposals to convene tribal councils, or jirgas, of Afghan and Pakistani community leaders to find a solution to the violence.

Some Afghan officials accuse Islamabad of allowing Taleban fighters to cross the border into Afghanistan, a charge Pakistan denies.
