New York Knicks Win Another Overtime Victory


The New York Knicks beat the Detroit Pistons 151-145 Thursday in triple overtime in the National Basketball Association.

The win was the Knicks's third overtime victory in the last 10 days. Guard Stephon Marbury scored a season-high 41 points for New York, while teammates Eddy Curry scored 33 points and Channing Frye, who hit a long jump-shot at the buzzer to force the third extra period, scored 26 points. Jamal Crawford added another 29 points, 15 of them in the final two overtime periods.

Detroit lost despite a career-high 51-point performance from Richard Hamilton.

Elsewhere in the NBA on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington, Cleveland, Houston, Toronto, Milwaukee and Chicago were all winners.

Kobe Bryant scored 27 points to lead the Lakers to a 106-93 win over the Orlando Magic. The Washington Wizards got 39 points from Gilbert Arenas as they defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 114-107. The Wizards are the first NBA team in 12 seasons to score 106 or more points in 12 straight games.

The Cleveland Cavaliers downed the Atlanta Hawks 89-76, led by LeBron James, who scored 27 points. The Houston Rockets enjoyed a 96-71 rout over the New Jersey Nets. Toronto's T.J. Ford scored 28 points to lead the Raptors to a 100-97 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Memphis Grizzlies 112-96 for its sixth straight victory. And Ben Gordon scored a career-high 40 points off the bench to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 109-103 victory over the Miami Heat.
