Olympic Flame to Reach Top of Mount Everest - Twice

The Olympic torch will make two trips to the world's highest peak as part of the build-up to the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China.

The Olympic flame will go to the top of Mount Everest twice, once as part of a run-through in 2007 and the second time during the actual torch relay in 2008.

Chinese Olympic officials say the torch, which is being specially designed to burn at such a high altitude, is in the final stage of design.

The full schedule of the torch relay, which still has to be approved by the International Olympic Committee, has not been released.
