Former world No. 1 women's tennis player Kim Clijsters has extended the winning start to her farewell tour. The 23-year-old Belgian reached the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne with a 6-3, 6-0 win Thursday over Akiko Morigami of Japan.
Clijsters is retiring at the end of this season with the hope of starting a family. She started the year with an exhibition win over Russian Maria Sharapova and last week won the Sydney International tournament.
Martina Hingis of Switzerland had a 6-2, 6-2 win over Russian Alla Kudryavtseva. Hingis is in the second year of her comeback after three seasons on the sidelines.
Light rain caused delays on outside courts, with matches held up nearly two hours.
