Adam Malysz Wins World Cup Ski Jumping Event in Lahti, Finland

Polish ski-jumper Adam Malysz has overcome windy conditions to win the World Cup event in Lahti, Finland and move closer to overall leader Anders Jacobsen of Norway.

Malysz made jumps of 125 and 128 meters Sunday for a score of 265.8 points. Andreas Kofler of Austria took second place with jumps of 124 and 121.5 meters for 258.3 points. Martin Schmitt of Germany earned his first podium finish since 2002, with 255.7 points in third place.

Malysz is now tied with Jens Weissflog of Germany for second place in total World Cup ski jump victories with 33. Matti Nykanen of Finland leads the all-time list with 46 victories.

Jacobsen retained the overall lead with 1,087 points. Malysz is second with 953, while Austrian teenager Gregor Schlierenzauer has 915 in third place.
